“The best, most hospitable host this side of the Atlantic! Cleo is personable, flexible and comes highly recommended. Thank you for working with my schedule and for the loan of a tie to wear to the church!!”  Wedding guest Andre of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA: stayed for three nights in Room Three – Blackmore Vale View, May 2018

“Exceptional! Staying at ‘Sunflowers’ is like visiting an old friend. Cleo welcomes you and makes you feel at home in her beautiful home. She’s a fabulous cook, so the breakfasts are superb and really fill you up for the day. Nothing is too much trouble! Our room was spacious and super-clean. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom had a posh shower enclosure with loads of hot water. Plenty of toiletries too. Oh, and the view from our window was beautiful too (especially relevant if you’re a Thomas Hardy fan). There’s a small, cosy common area with a fridge and sofa if you wish to relax outside your room, and plenty of parking in front of the house. Last, but not least, Peggy the dog, is super-cute and friendly. If you’re not a dog fan, don’t worry, she’ll be kept in the family’s private area and won’t bother you at all! All in all, this is a superb place to stay. Convenient location for Sherborne, Shaftesbury and many other beautiful spots in Dorset/Somerset – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!” Shirley and Paul, London – stayed for four nights in Room Three – Blackmore Vale View, whilst attending a local wedding, February 2018

“We booked two double rooms at ‘Sunflowers’ after looking for a location close to an event venue we were attending in Gillingham and we were lucky enough to stumble across this little gem … not a thing that could be faulted: perfect rooms, perfect facilities and an especially perfect host, added to the hot tub in the garden which made our stay superb … thank you Cleo, we hope we can stay again next year!” Sharon and party – stayed whilst attending a function at The Olive Bowl, Gillingham, Dorset – January 2018

“Cleo made me feel very welcome indeed. I’d recommend Sunflowers B&B to anyone. I loved the wonderful home cooked breakfast to order (great scrambled eggs!), the take away fresh coffee (not instant), the black out blinds and comfy bed in the room (room 3 – Blackmore Vale View), the fresh milk, water and beer in the guest fridge. So dog friendly that even though I was there on business and without my dog, Cleo sent me home with a free packet of treats for my Labradoodle! Fantastic attention to detail.” Stephen – here for two nights on business in Shaftesbury – November 2017

Cleo & Steve: What can I say – we had an amazing mini honeymoon at your home! We visited Monkey World and Longleat and ‘Sunflowers’ is right between both. When we arrived,  we had a very, very warm welcome from Cleo and once we had told her that we’d got married the Friday before (22/09/17),  we had a little note under our door saying ‘enjoy the bottle of bubbly in the guest fridge’ –  very unexpected but what a lovely gift. The view from our room was beautiful and the B&B is in a nice quiet area with local shops and eating places near by. Breakfast was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for Cleo, she is an amazing host. Will definitely recommend and come and stay again if we are in the area. Thank you so much,  Cleo & Steve,  our stay was more than we expected xxx Sarah and Francis from Surrey – on their honeymoon, September 2017 (3 nights in Blackmore Vale View)

Wonderful! Enchanting! Superb! Critics are raving about ‘Sunflowers’ – with an Academy Award™ performance by CLEO, ‘Sunflowers’ is sure to steal your heart. Featuring a scene stealing performance from PEGGY and with behind the scenes support from STEVE, ‘Sunflowers’ is set to become a classic, comparable with “Gone with the Inn” and “Bed and Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. Radleigh Valentine, Denver, CO, USA – stayed for three nights in Church View whilst visiting local friends

Thank you – I loved the hot tub and the little bagels for breakfast. Ned, Surrey (aged 6) – a two night family stay over half-term, May 2017

We stayed for six nights with Cleo in the room called CHURCH VIEW. The rooms are very nice, with a good shower and even enough room for a yoga mat! It’s a good place from where to explore the region, there’s a lot to see and do and Cleo is very helpful with maps, codes for the GPS and making phone calls for us. She is also a sparkling, friendly and professional host. To be in ‘Sunflowers’ was a real pleasure! Tiny and Jan, The Netherlands, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a tour of the UK

I’ve had a number of wonderful and very relaxing stays at ‘Sunflowers’ whilst in the area on business. Cleo is a first class host and nothing is too much trouble. She provides immense vegetarian breakfasts and a very comfortable bed. I’m always made to feel very welcome and it’s always good to come back and see Cleo and the gang – plus she remembers that I like almond milk with my breakfast and in the guest fridge! I also recommend her home made lemon drizzle cake, the perfect pick me up at the end of a long day. We stayed at your lovely B&B on our way to Cornwall and it was like a special holiday on its own! 10/10! Thank you very much! Ilona and Uwe, Germany

I had a great stay at ‘Sunflowers’. It was all very professionally done, without taking away from the cosy atmosphere – just the way you want a B&B to be! Cleo was such a welcoming hostess and really thought of everything. The dairy-free breakfast she made me was lovely. Thank you so much! Tove, Sweden – stayed for one night in Garden View as part of a UK wide holiday

‘Sunflowers’ is easy to find, with good parking. A warm welcome from Cleo,  who made us a cup of tea on arrival. Lovely house. Comfortable bed and pillows, seating, lovely en-suite bathroom and everything was spotlessly clean. We appreciated having a black out blind at the window to keep out the light after sunrise, a guest lounge and the use of a fridge. The owners’ dog, Peggy was like the most wonderful fun person trapped in a dog’s body!! Thank you Cleo for so willingly giving us an early and delicious breakfast. Cleo is delightful in every way! The rooms were lovely, comfy beds, a good night’s sleep in a quiet area, all well decorated throughout. Cleo was very easy to communicate with in advance and always very friendly and helpful. We even had a welcome glass of wine when we arrived late! A short, but very sweet stay at ‘Sunflowers’ – high quality throughout! I appreciated the attention to detail, the perfect breakfast, the warm welcome and the friendly service. Paul, London (a personal chef, visiting local friends)

We had a wonderful stay at ‘Sunflowers’ Bed & Breakfast. Cleo and Steve have thought of everything needed for an amazing break. The breakfasts are lovely, with a beautifully laid table and delicious local ingredients. Our holiday was faultless, fabulous and fun. Thank you to our hosts and their adorable dog Peggy. Jane and Terry, Sussex (on holiday – repeat guests 2016 and 2017)

We stayed at Cleo and Steve’s B&B and had a great and relaxing time. Both hosts are very welcoming and nothing is any trouble. Great amenities also, from generous coffee/tea making facilities and toiletries to the lovely hot tub. We also enjoyed breakfast – good quality local food and drinks were provided. We found the location great as a base to explore Dorset. It’s about 30 minutes from Longleat and about an hour from the coast. We recommend a trip to Lulworth Cove. Thank you, Cleo & Steve!  Jarka and Femi, London (on a getaway from it all weekend break)

We managed to get to Lyme Regis in just about an hour (and easily managed to fit in Lulworth Cove and the walk to Durdle Door in the same day). There is a One Stop, Asda and Waitrose nearby for provisions. A mention of Cleo: a wonderful person with plenty of time and helpful advice, partnered with the very funny Steve and adorable dog, Peggy. Cleo made the trip that extra bit special and we do hope to return one day soon. Luke and family, Bucks (repeat guests, 2016 & 2017, rooms Garden View and Church View)

Cleo runs a fantastic B&B! My husband and I went to stay for an anniversary weekend with our one year old girl. The house is beautiful. The hot tub is a selling point, set in a stunning garden with its own shelter. The bedroom had everything we needed, was very clean and tidy and the bed was so comfortable! Cleo always had information on the places we wanted to visit and held recommendations on each. We will visit again and recommend ‘Sunflowers’ to anyone looking for a well looked after B&B. Oh, also the freshly prepared breakfast kept us full all day! Thank you Cleo! Emily and family, Surrey (wedding anniversary celebration)

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the beautiful ‘Sunflowers’ under the hospitality of the lovely Cleo and Steve. They couldn’t have done anything more to make us feel welcome! Everything was as described and we can’t fault one thing. The bed was very comfy, the hot tub, a god send after spending a day at Longleat and the fantastic breakfast (especially the fruit compote and jam!) set us up right for the next day of travelling around! We would highly recommend ‘Sunflowers’! It was a shame we could only spend one night, but we now know where we will be staying the next time we visit the area! Thank you very much! Shaun and Aimee, Port Talbot, Wales (August Bank holiday 2016 visit)

We had a lovely time in Dorset with Cleo and Steve. They were the perfect hosts. When we arrived there was a cup of tea and cake awaiting us. We had our own dining room, and the bedroom was fabulous. Everything was nice and clean, and the roses in our bedroom were lovely. We had a choice for breakfast. We especially enjoyed the rhubarb compote and the Greek yogurt. They were very helpful in advising us of places to visit, and places to eat. The hot tub was very relaxing. We stayed with Cleo for four nights [Church View room]. We will definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone. They are friendly and helpful. Brenda and Malgwyn, Wales (visiting the Great Dorset Steam Fair, 2016)

Cleo has a lovely house that is immaculately clean and presented to a very high standard. We were very impressed with our stay and had a fantastic time exploring the local area. The room was spacious, well equipped and the hot tub was the jewel in the crown. We were met at the timing as we had agreed prior to arrival and hosted very well – we sampled her home baking and the cake comes highly recommended! I would definitely stay again! Craig and Michelle, Scotland (holidaying in the area)

My parents and I stayed three nights at ‘Sunflowers’ and had a fantastic time. This is a beautiful house in a great location, with spotlessly clean, spacious, well-appointed and very comfortable bedrooms. The private dining room (where Cleo serves a delicious breakfast, plus very welcome tea and cake on arrival) was a real bonus, enabling us to relax in comfort. The hot tub deserves a special mention – a real treat! Cleo and Steve are generous, knowledgeable and friendly hosts who we feel have done everything they can to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. Lots to see and do in the area – we particularly enjoyed visiting Stourhead, and nearby Shaftesbury. We were also impressed with the very helpful listings of places to eat and in particular would mention an excellent meal at the Coppleridge Inn. Thank you, Cleo and Steve, for an excellent and very hospitable stay, and also for your help so freely given. A very comfortable experience and very highly recommended. Elizabeth, Terry and Carol (on holiday from Essex)

Excellent host – we were welcomed with tea and cake. The room was spotless and we were provided with various types of tea in our room. Cleo was very helpful with places to visit etc. Hot tub was great fun also. Breakfast was also lovely – especially the bread! Thanks for a great three night stay! Emily and Sam, Staffs (Church View room; breaking the journey home from Cornwall)

A lovely warm welcome from Cleo on our arrival. The rooms were immaculate and so comfortable. As for the use of the hot tub: sheer bliss springs to mind. For an overnight stay we couldn’t have hoped for more, apart from wishing we could’ve stayed longer. Thank you Cleo for opening your home up to us and making Louise, Daisy (7) and myself feel so welcome. The Smith family (on holiday from Cornwall)

We had a wonderful four night stay in room one, Cleo and Steve were great hosts and full of recommendations and suggestions for where to go, both to visit and to eat. Hope to see you both again.  Jim and Denise, Hampshire (on holiday to celebrate a Special Birthday!)

We had a very pleasant stay at Cleo’s lovely house. The room and en-suite were beautiful, as was the breakfast. Highlight was the big hot tub, would love to return. Thank you. Adrian, London (weekend mini-break)

Cleo made us feel incredibly welcome in her beautiful home. There’s not one thing she hadn’t thought of. Would thoroughly recommend and am thinking of a reason to return to Gillingham so we can stay again! Sue and Steve, Wiltshire (attending a function at North Dorset Rugby Club)

Lovely stay, a little bit of luxury with our own sitting room too. Cleo was super welcoming and happily warmed up our food for us as well as giving a mum a glass of wine which was gratefully received. Dog lovers: be prepared to fall in love with Peggy and for your dogs to be able to share your luxury. We look forward to being in the area again and being able to sample the hot tub. Thanks a million. Kate, Sam (11) and Blossom the cocker spaniel, Nottinghamshire (visiting a local school)

‘Sunflowers’ was absolutely immaculate from start to finish. Immaculate surroundings, cleanliness and hospitality. Cleo could not have done more for us, with tea and cake on arrival and a glass of wine in the evening. Only downside was we didn’t get chance to spend more time in the surrounding area. Maybe next time. Phil and Tammy, West Midlands (visiting local friends)

What a wonderful stay. Cleo and Steve were very welcoming and the accommodation was first class, including the hot tub! This is one place we will definitely come back to and we could even bring our dog, EllieSara, Dave and Ellie, Cornwall (celebrating a birthday over a three night stay)

A touch of luxury and comfort. Cleo and Steve were superb hosts and nothing was too much trouble. A welcome pot of tea on arrival, meeting Peggy the spaniel cross and a glass of wine in the private sitting room all served to make me extremely welcome. Steve drove me to the station to catch an early train and generously collected me late in the evening. I simply cannot wait to book in again. Petrina, Dorset (a local treating herself to a birthday break!)
